About Us
Our Virtual Field Trip program operates in School District 23, a public school district in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. We connect teachers & students to scientists, authors, explorers, adventurers, and other experts from around the world via live interactive videoconference. We utilize a variety of technology such as H.323 Videoconference (LifeSize/Polycom) and desktop based videoconference systems (Zoom/Skype) to deliver world-class, live, interactive experiences for our students. These range from diving the depths of the Great Barrier Reef, to orbiting the Earth on-board the International Space Station (and everything in between!).
We've been running our program for 10+ years and have connected more than 50 000 students to a Virtual Field Trip experience. We currently have all 45 district schools utilizing low-cost ZOOM-based VFT systems managed by our amazing teacher/librarians. This enables real-time collaboration for teachers/students both in-district and on a national/global scale, while providing opportunities to connect to a wide variety of experts and events from around the world.
